American Idol - Pint-sized beauty:  Ramiele Malubay eliminated and Kristy Lee lives

American Idol Pint-sized beauty sent packing on Idol. Ramiele Malubay eliminated and Kristy Lee lives to fight another day

Was I perhaps the only one surprised on Wednesday night’s ‘American Idol’ results show?
Â
Never would I have thought that Ramiele Malubay, the youngest girl left in the competition would be on her way out. Granted, her rendition of Dolly Parton’s “Do I Ever Cross Your Mind” was not the most memorable one, but her personality, spunk, coupled with her excellent voice made her one that I was sure would be around for weeks and weeks.Â
Â
Surely, she was better than Kristy Lee Cook, the girl who’s numerous appearances in the Bottom 2 could rival that of Nikki McKibbin from season one; Kristy’s slapshod “Coat Of Many Colors”  on Tuesday night was so bland and non-descript, I found myself asking the question I’ve had in my mind since the Top 12 results show - why is she still here?
Â
Despite the fact that many would say that Kristy robbed semifinalist Asia’h Epperson of a spot in the finals of the competiton (I think so as well, but Asia’h’s upbeat performance of “I Wanna Dance With Somebody,” coupled with being the first out of the box on Top 16 night contributed to her unfortunate demise), one cannot really argue that our pint sized, bubbly beauty deserved the shaft over Kristy Lee, who’s managed to squeak by from week to week in the style of Sanjaya Malakar.Â
Â
I actually liked Sanjaya, at least he was interesting and had some life to him, but Kristy Lee, she’s just incredibly boring to watch. Her best performance of the competition to date was not as the British asshat would say, “God Bless The USA,” but Journey’s “Faithfully,” which earned her a place in the Top 12. I’ll admit, that was well deserved.Â
Â
But butchering two Beatles songs in a row, then going on to select a song for the sole purpose of preventing the judges from making comments that would be perceived as anti-American? Wow. Although, who can blame her? This is the most talented, most diverse group of contestants we’ve ever had on ‘Idol’ and she’s a poor man’s Kellie Pickler.Â
Â
Kellie’s going to get me for that one later, I swear. There I go again, insulting contestants I actually like!
Â
Enough with Kristy Lee, oh God my aching head.Â
Â
Highlights from Tuesday night’s performance show were in short supply, due to the horrible theme. Why Simon Cowell can’t admit that is beyond me. He criticized Carly Smithson for her clothing, and his praise didn’t stretch very far tonight, which leads myself and probably much of the viewing audience to question why this theme was even chosen. Could we not find something more current than songs by a woman who’s breasts could cover the entire perimeter of Rhode Island in a rainstorm?
Â
The results show was also unfortunately plagued with a performance by this week’s mentor, which strangely enough was the most entertaining moment of the week.

If one positive thing can be said about this week, it would be that we can finally close the chapter on the Parton songbook.

I couldn’t disagree more! While Kristy Lee definitely should not have made it this far, at least she has had some great performances. I have not seen one outstanding performance from Ramiele since we saw her in the top 24. In my opinion, she should have been ousted before the top 12. Granted, she has had a few decent performances, but nothing impressive that has gotten great reactions from the judges. To me, she has been completely boring. Because of her, other deserving contestants have been ousted prematurely.

Also, while I’m not personally a huge Dolly fan, she is a legend. We have seen weirder themes (songs that inspired Gwen Stefanie anyone?)

I couldn’t disagree more! While Kristy Lee is long overdue to leave, I haven’t seen Ramiele deliver a single outstanding performance. While she has had some decent weeks, nothing that has gotten a great reaction from the judges (or me). At least Kristy Lee has had one or two of those. In my opinion, Ramiele should have been ousted before the top 12. Also, because of her some deserving contestants were prematurely sent packing. (David and maybe Chikezie)

And, while I’m not a huge Dolly fan, she is a legend so you can’t really blame the producers. We have had weirder themes (songs that inspired Gwen Stefanie, anyone?)

Personally, I’m gonna miss that little cutie-pie. I’m looking forward to seeing her on Regis & Kelly and other such tv shows.
How dare you criticize Dolly Parton. She is one of the greatest talents/personalities who ever hit the Country Music scene.

Nope, I feel completely the opposite.

I’m totally comfortable with Kristy Lee on the show, and I’ve thought the timid, nervous, no-superstar-quality Ramiele should have been booted long ago.

Ramiele’s whipped puppydog and puckered lower lip look needed to go long ago. If she wanted to be a star, she needed to act like it.

Kristy needs to loose the negativity or she should be gone too.

KLC is definitely going to be the next to go. Every week it seems as though she’s waiting, and expecting, herself to get voted off.
