American Idol 2008 Revealed: David & Kristy Lee Cook Survive Dolly Parton Week

David Cook is one of the favorites to win American idol but Dolly Parton Week on the show almost did him in.  The Missouri rocker has wowed the viewers of the wildly popular Reality TV show with his on stage performances and did so again this week, but it was when he was off stage where he ran into trouble.

After his performance on Tuesday night he began feeling ill and pretty much terrible and at some point his heart began to race, and his blood pressure spiked.  It was later revealed that he also had heart palpitations and after a bit of debate was rushed to a hospital for care.  He seems okay now, he was back on the show on Wednesday performing and he said he felt much better.

Kristy Lee Cook (no relation) survived as well, though every week seems like a struggle for her.  She again fell to the bottom three but she did fairly well with the Parton classic, “Coat of Many Colors” and it was actually nice to see her hang in there through country week.  Eventually the pint sized singer Ramiele Malubay was voted off, and that seems just about right.

Now we move to what I call the “Elite Eight” though I think that is just because I am still in the NCAA tournament bracket mode.  This still seems like the David and David show referring to Archuleta, the seventeen year old wonder kid and David Cook.  I’m still pulling for Brooke White and Carly Smithson for the gals side as well.  Next week should be interesting, though if Kristy Lee is still around on Wednesday night, I will be shocked.  All of our American idol coverage is here.
